Our Environmental Policy
Our environmental impact is very important to us
We have taken some simple, practical measures here at Clough Bottom to make ourselves more environmentally friendly:
- Using ecological detergents and cleaning products
- Returning cardboard and paper, glass, tin and metals, plastics, printer cartridges, food and green waste for recycling or heat recovery
- Using recyclable/biodegradable stationery and packaging
- Replacing lightbulbs with energy efficient alternatives
- Purchasing carefully by choosing locally-produced products, organic or Fairtrade products as appropriate
But in addition to reducing the negatives, we try and have a positive impact on the environment making it better for future generations by:
- Operating as an organic farm using natural fertilisers and green manures
- Planting woodland and hedgerows to act as shelter belts for wildlife and reduce CO2
- Creating new and cleaning up existing ponds to promote pond-life
- Joining with like-minded organisations to share best practices and raise awareness
- Investigating alternative energy sources and hydropower
