Clough Bottom - Clough Bottom Farm Wins Sustainable Tourism Award in the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourism Awards 2010/11

Clough Bottom Farm Wins Sustainable Tourism Award at the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourism Awards 2010/11

On June 9th 2010, Clough Bottom Farm was crowned winner of the Sustainable Tourism Award in the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board's Tourism Awards 2010/11.

Despite some stiff competition from other accommodation providers and major tourist attractions, our on-going commitment to sustainability won praise from the judging panel. This award is particularly important to us and we are delighted that our continued efforts have been recognised. Jane accepted the award from wildlife television personality Michaela Strachan. Michaela was the principal presenter on the multi-BAFTA-award-winning wildlife series, Michaela's Wild Challenge (Two Hand Productions for Five TV) and is a regular presenter for BBC's Countryfile.

Our commitment to sustainability has always (and continues to) underpin everything we do at Clough Bottom. Our plans for 2010 include a new ‘Sensory Garden', and the introduction of two new bee hives which we hope will produce lots of honey and pollinate our flowering plants. All the farm vehicles now run on bio-diesel (produced on site) and we are currently developing a micro-hydro initiative and exploring other renewable energy strategies including a Ground Source Heat Pump and CHP Boiler to generate electricity and provide heat.

Now it's on to the Regional awards - we'll keep you posted!
