Clough Bottom Holiday Cottages

Harry & Jane Backhouse aim to create the Perfect Holiday Experience

Natural tranquillity is the essence of Clough Bottom in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, and how better to experience this than some well-earned ‘time-out’ in one of our comfortable holiday cottages.

Clough CottagesStylishly furnished and equipped with every modern facility, these lovingly converted stone-built farm buildings are perfect for small groups of family and friends.

Each of our three cottages has it’s own feel and charm: whether you’re looking for a sociable open plan lay-out, a picturesque patio area overlooking the ‘babbling’ brook, or good-size garden where your children can safely play. The interior of each cottage has been designed to reflect the surroundings in which it rests, with the focus remaining on comfort, style and luxury. The sumptuous feel of the cottages is enhanced by the special attention to detail. Hand chosen antiques and designer soft furnishings add to the beautiful aesthetics, while we ensure that you have many restful hours of sleep in comfort on the luxury ‘Sealy’ beds, which grace each bedroom.

Guests arrive to a welcome basket comprising tea, coffee, sugar, milk and shortbread biscuits. Fresh bed linen and towels are provided along with a selection of complementary toiletries. There is also a shared laundry room featuring a washer/dryer with free detergent.

In the summer season, you will want to make full use of the outdoor seating area, and we can provide a complimentary quality Bar-Be-Quick Instant BBQ for alfresco dining. This is available from the office.

For those with little VIPs, we can provide travel cots and ensure your children’s safety with specially fitted stair-gates.

The Coach House Holiday Cottage

The Coach HouseIf you’re looking for a traditional style retreat, you won’t find anything better than the Grade II listed Coach House, which has been lovingly restored to retain the original features and character. The cosiness and quality of this residence, which was originally the place where the horses, carriage and stable hands used to live who serviced the ‘big house’, makes it easy to see why it holds a silver tourist board award. In a secluded setting with its own private lane running parallel to the stream, the approach to the cottage is a welcoming sight with the orchard and vegetable garden just beyond.
The original carriage entrance to the cottage, adds to its charismatic charm, and opens the downstairs out into the open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. We have teamed antiques with elegant fabrics from Sandersons to enhance the appeal of this quaint rural hideaway.

Around the Ribble Valley

Our cottages make an ideal base for exploring this designated area of outstanding natural beauty or touring the Lakes and Dales, whether this is by car or on-foot. Each of the cottages has its own tailored welcome pack catering for the local area. Clough Bottom Farm, in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, where the cottage are situated is very close to a number of well-used public foot paths – you may decide to try some of these out as they often lead to local pubs or the farm shop! If the cycle is your chosen method of transportation, you have the option of the winding country roads or perhaps spend time ‘off-roading’ in Gisburn Park.

If you want to experience Bashall Eaves, our local haunt, the Red Pump Inn is within staggering distance, offers wholesome home-cooked food and can offer a delicious Sunday Lunch. The local countryside abounds in attractive country inns while the delightful market town of Clitheroe with its castle, shops, pubs and restaurants lies just ten minutes away.

Clough Bottom Holiday Cottages also makes a great starting point for those who enjoy a spot of culture. Steeped in history, nearby market and tourist towns, Skipton and Harrogate are within an hour away, while for those who need a fix of retail therapy, there are the more cosmopolitan towns of Preston and Manchester. Blackpool and Southport are great for the kiddies, with the bright lights and the fairground attractions. Theme Parks, Lightwater Valley and Camelot are also within easy reach.
