Clough Bottom Organic Beef
A model for conservation
“A contented, healthy cow is a very succulent steak”
It’s nice to know where your food comes from; that it’s had a pleasant and peaceful life, well cared for in a natural environment.
We don’t name our Limousin and Aberdeen Angus cows, but we treat them with dignity and ensure that they want for nothing – after all a contented, healthy cow is a very succulent steak!
We raise organic beef following natural farming methods and adding clover and herb mixtures to the grass to enrich the land naturally. No artificial fertilisers or additives are used. In addition our fields are bordered by conservation shelterbelts which provide a natural haven for wildlife.
Why buy Organic?
You know that the welfare and humane treatment of our cows is of paramount importance to us, in fact our cattle is allowed to mature gradually, with the cows and calves living together until they naturally part and outgrow each other - but how does this benefit you?
- You get delicious, very high quality food - The organic beef is hung for a minimum of 28 days before it is sold to the butcher. This process increases the flavour in the meat.
- When you purchase organic beef it is a darker red colour (showing that it has been hung for longer) and has improved marbling (traces of white fat) through the meat which makes it more tender.
- We sell our organic beef "on the hoof" (a technical term!) and it can be found in major regional supermarkets & retailers - look out for it in the organic section!
